課程概述 |
This course builds on Basic Consecutive Interpreting (Chinese to English) and introduces the advanced techniques of interpreting from Chinese into English. Students will learn to analyze Chinese audio input more critically and strategically, convert the message into English, and deliver in an idiomatic and effective way. The level of difficulty in terms of subject matter content and other source language factors are increased. |

課程目標 |
1. Be able to talk about assigned topics in idiomatic and educated English.
2. Be able to critically analyze the Chinese input, grasp the kernel idea, and restructure the Chinese message to facilitate English construction.
3. Be able to formulate appropriate English renditions.
4. Be able to deliver the interpretation in an idiomatic way that is sophisticated and appropriate for effective communication.
5. Be able to write and use notes effectively.
6. Be able to build rapport with the audience in a professional manner.

Students should keep themselves abreast with current affairs. They are also required to practice on a constant basis and keep a detailed practice log that documents their progress and reflections. |
